About De Mthuda
Mthuthuzeli Khoza has made a name for himself as De Mthuda in amapiano circles, first as a club DJ around South Africa and then as a producer. Extensive work with vocalist Njelic led to hits like “Shesha”, which filled dance floors in 2019. De Mthuda created a solid bedrock for Samthing Soweto’s vocals on the singer’s 2020 EP Danko!, fusing the signature drum lock sound of amapiano with the jazzy chords that define the Johannesburg-based producer’s sonic approach. But he didn’t stop there. That same year, De Mthuda released his own album, Story to Tell, Vol. 1, full of collaborations with other notable names, including Mkeyz, Young Man and Siya M. He released a second album in 2020, Ace Of Spades, with fellow producer Ntokzin that features singers like Kammu Dee and Lady Du. De Mthuda continues to build his empire on amapiano innovations.
