Spencer Brewer Essentials

Pianist Spencer Brewer's had a unique career, taking him from new age to smooth jazz and finally into visual art. Born in Dallas but later based in Northern California, he first recorded in '84 as a solo pianist. After signing to the Narada label, he began working with horn players and rhythm sections, but his music remained lush and lyrical. He began creating sculpture after injuries sustained in a '99 car accident caused him to temporarily stop playing, and now divides his time between the two fields. He's also created the Redwood Valley Outdoor Educational Facility in Ukiah, California.
