The word “legend” gets thrown around a lot, but this SAMA Lifetime Achievement Award winner deserves the title. In the early ‘80s, he played bass for Afrikaans rock pioneers Wildebeest and fronted Jackhammer, a blues rock band that shared stages with ZZ Top and Deep Purple in the ‘90s. In 1997, he kick-started his solo career with Suitcase vol Winter. Whether he's playing dusty blues-infused rock or pensive folk, his deep whisky vocals hold a mirror to society and the soul.
