Cape Town rap outfit PHFAT has undergone many incarnations. Their debut, Dinosaur Blood, introduced Smooth Mike, Di$co and Narch as an unstoppable force. Di$co departed just as they dropped their second album, Happiness Machines; after Narch decided to focus on production, Smooth Mike grew into his own as a fire-spitting solo rapper. Now, as a pseudonym for Smooth Mike’s sound, PHFAT has a renewed focused, with thrilling electro-tinged hip-hop full of choir-backed choruses and heartfelt lyrics.
