“This playlist represents a journey,” Nigeria-born visual artist and musician Laolu tells Apple Music. “One that traces my life path, and one that celebrates and showcases the creative process I undertake in my artistic work.” Befitting one of Africa’s most restless creative talents, the former human rights lawyer’s exclusive Africa Month playlist takes in many of the continent’s thriving sounds. “As an artist, I never know where my inspiration will come from,” he says. “I'm not biased to a particular genre, because I want to stay open in my art. This list, featuring artists from across the continent of Africa, are people that inspire me daily. My art is interpretive, it is a true reflection of my inner self, and this music showcases that concept.”
