When Tunde King combined traditional Yoruban drum rhythms with swinging pop melodies in the ‘20s, no one could have predicted that his sound would have an international impact almost 100 years later. In the ‘50s and ‘60s, artists like Tunde Nightingale and I. K. Dairo helped juju attract new audiences by incorporating electric guitar and elements of Western rock and pop.
