Lauren Daigle had contemplated moving back to her hometown in Louisiana even before the pandemic hit. After going back to New Orleans to self-isolate with her family, she’s ready to stay. “I grew up around these parts, but right when my career got started, I moved to Nashville,” Daigle tells Apple Music. “I think now is the time for me to give back to the place that I'm from. I need to just move close to home so that I can get a deeper experience with the sound that I was raised with.” The contemporary Christian artist has been connecting with local musicians and writing new music since she moved back. “I'm just elated to go into the studio and build a new community down here,” she says. “These guys are so beautiful. And they think like me, just because of the way we were raised.” On this exclusive Apple Music playlist curated by Daigle herself, she's chosen tracks from artists like Anderson .Paak, Billie Eilish, Tank and the Bangas, and Lianne La Havas, whom she greatly admires as a vocalist: “If I'm going to get to the top of my range, it's going to be a triumphant exertion of my lungs,” she says. “Whereas she's like, 'I'm going to give you the same depth of sound, but I'm going to let you watch me do it with no effort.'”
