Inspired by a desire to build his own brand internationally, South African house DJ and producer Shimza (Ashley Raphala) founded KUNYE in 2020 to introduce South African talent to new audiences around the world. A Xhosa word meaning “together”, KUNYE brings artists and fans together in a celebration of culture. Championing new and emerging stars in the Afro-house space, KUNYE gives its roster of artists the record-label experience—while also creating events that foster cross-border connections between artists—and showcases the diversity of South African sounds.
