About Strife

Blues-based British hard rock trio who formed in 1972. The band - John Reid (vocals, guitar), Gordon Rowley (bass, vocals) and David Williams (drums, vocals) - gigged incessantly and earned a reputation as a perennial support act, but lacked the individuality to reach headline status. Strife built up a small but loyal cult following during the mid-70s, with their honest, no-frills, good-time rock ‘n’ roll. They released two average rock albums, with Back To Thunder featuring Don Airey on keyboards and Paul Ellison in place of Williams on drums. After one last stab at success with the EP School, the band gave up in 1979. Rowley went on to form Nightwing.
