Born Khutso Oscar Sewela in 1998, DJ/producer Sje Konka is known for his hard-knocking and electrifying take on amapiano that reflects the energy and diversity of the people from Atteridgeville, Pretoria, where he was raised. Konka’s reputation exploded within the scene in 2020, following collaborations with Vigro Deep (“Monalisa”) and Caltonic SA (“Bambelela”). His close relationship with producer Freddy K led them to work together on 2020’s Shapa Munne Ep.1 as well as 2021’s smash hit “Location”. A skilled keyboard player, his music often contains piano solos, vocal chants and heavy-hitting log drums. On the solo EP Let Go (2021), Konka strings together his signature soundscapes with influences from Pretoria bacardi and house to solidify and expand his style.
