No UFO's

About No UFO's

Named after the classic 1985 Detroit techno track by Model 500 (Juan Atkins), No UFO's is the recording moniker of Konrad Jandavs, a Canadian experimental artist who runs the Nice Up International label. Working with magnetic tape, obscure synthesizers, drum machines, guitars, and field recordings, his recordings are wildly unpredictable sonic collages, shifting between submerged dub, abstract techno, shimmering ambience, and space rock. He has shared the stage with Demdike Stare, Dopplereffekt, Loscil, and many others. He first surfaced in 2010 with two cassettes: Soft Coast (Nice Up) and Mind Control (Dub Ditch Picnic). Soft Coast was issued on vinyl by Spectrum Spools in 2011, and the 12" EP Mind Controls the Flood was released by Public Information during the same year. Two volumes of MPC Tracks EPs were issued by Nice Up in 2012 and 2013. No UFO's remixed tracks by Altar Eagle and Jon Hassell (the latter appearing on a 2014 12" EP as well as a triple-CD reissue of 1990's City: Works of Fiction album). In 2017, Root Strata released Nu LP for RS, which Jandavs considered his first proper full-length, as Soft Coast was initially released as a demo cassette. ~ Paul Simpson
