Leifur James mixes experimental production and traditional songcraft with programmed and live instrumentation. The London-based multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter has recorded the meditative, intricately layered albums A Louder Silence (2018) and Angel in Disguise (2020) for the Night Time Stories label. James became involved with music as a youngster, starting with cello and piano before he got into electronic music production. He signed to LateNightTales offshoot Night Time Stories, and in October 2018 made his album debut with A Louder Silence, supported by stations such as KCRW and BBC Radio 6 (including Gilles Peterson), and acclaim from numerous publications. A set of remixes from the likes of FaltyDL, Auntie Flo, and Coby Sey followed in 2019, as did the non-album track "Wurlitzer." Early the next year, James offered "Wise Old Man" and "AAID," and that April issued Angel in Disguise, his second LP. ~ Andy Kellman
