After debuting on Smif-N-Wessun’s DAH SHININ (1995), the East Coast duo Heltah Skeltah furthered the Boot Camp movement with the release of their own debut the following year. NOCTURNAL blended brooding Beatminerz production with members Ruck and Rock’s contrasting vocal tones and ominous back-and-forth flows to a quasi-horrorcore effect. Two years later, MAGNUM FORCE followed in the same vein. Though neither LP achieved spectacular sales, they enjoy renown for their resonating influence.
