A popular act in London’s pub and club circuit during the early 70s, this quintet comprised former Heron member Gerald ‘GT’ Moore (b. Gerald Thomas Moore, 2 May 1949, Reading, Berkshire, England; guitar/vocals), Martin Hayward (guitar), Tim Jones (keyboards), Tom Whyte (bass), Tony Hannaford, Tom Robinson, and Malcolm Mortimore (drums). Their melodic blend of rock and reggae was partially captured on the unit’s self-titled debut, released in 1974, but like many contemporaries, GT Moore were unable to commit a live excitement to record. Their musicianship, however, was never in question and Whyte, Hayward and Moore made telling contributions to contemporaneous releases by Shusha. Tony Braunagal replaced Mortimore for Reggae Blue, but by this point the group was losing impetus and it was dissolved in 1977. After the demise of the band Moore concentrated on a career as a session player supporting artists such as Van Morrison and Johnny Nash. His work with Nash led to the formation of the Rhythm Tramps. In 1980 Moore travelled to Jamaica where he recorded ‘Utopia’ at Harry J.’s studio. The experience led to the formation of the Outsiders which toured Europe and recorded an unreleased album. After the disbanding of the Outsiders, Moore relocated to London where he began working with Eric Burdon. By the 90s Moore had formed a link with the Jah Works label that was particularly popular with the gabba gabba dub followers. His association with the new aficionados resulted in a link up with Zion Train. Over the years Moore has released a series of albums and has built up a significant European fanbase.
