About Al Bano Carrisi

Italian pop singer Al Bano (born Albano Carrisi) moved to Milan from his native Cellino San Marco to become involved in popular music, and soon began participating in Italy's festival circuit. His hit "Nel Sole" was released by EMI in 1967. Al Bano and singer/songwriter Romina Power were married in 1970 and began singing together soon thereafter, debuting with 1975's Atto I and Dialogo. Arriving in 1996, E la Mia Vita was Al Bano's first solo release in nearly three decades, followed by Verso il Sole (1997) and Ancora il Volo (1999). His 1999 divorce from Romina Power did not slow his artistic productivity; Al Bano released a record each year straight up to 2007's Cercami nel Coure della Gente. ~ Drago Bonacich & Evan C.
