There’s a decidedly old-school vibe about Sharry Maan. He’s among the top stars of Punjabi pop but he seems like a guy who would party with anyone—and his albums are genre-defying experiences with something for all. His second LP of 2023, Still is much shorter than June’s mammoth The Last Good Album but no less fulfilling. Working again with producer Naaz, Maan updates his sound with beats as slick as the upstarts who’ve followed him, while retaining the earthy flavour that infuses his most resonant tunes. Standouts include “Putt Mehlan De”, on which he emotes over a jazzy groove, and the racing revelry of “Weekend”.
