EDITORS’ NOTES

Einaudi is reaching the end of his seven-day meditation, the pianist/composer’s music shifting with the subtly transforming Bavarian landscape as each day unfolds to reveal the tiniest changes in his route. Today, the low mists gather, gently swirling in the foothills, menacing strings (on the three “Cold Wind” tracks) betraying the presence of the biting cold wind; and so the butterflies of the previous 24 hours have taken flight, the campfire dampened as Einaudi paints an altogether more solitary picture on his penultimate day in the hills. His ascent above the clouds brings the sun to bear, culminating in a brightly lit walk on “The Path of the Fossils”, which he paints in a scintillating ten-minute epic.
