EDITORS’ NOTES

Arriving just a year after 2007's Because of the Times, Kings of Leon's Only by the Night marked a significant shift in the band's approach. While previously they had walked a line between sinister garage rock and moody grunge, the focus here is on stadium-filling anthems. Each track is beautifully produced with the melodies to match, most notably the huge singles "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody". Only By The Night is truly unmissable modern rock record.
