There's a mysterious undercurrent to Medicine Boy’s Lower that's deliciously intoxicating. Perhaps it’s how Lucy Kruger’s spine-chilling vocal delivery on “Carpels” and “For the Time Being” has a lulling quality. Or maybe it’s guitarist Andre Leo’s expert layering of deep, reverberating notes on “Yellow Eyed Radio Blues” and “Diamonds” to tease and build momentum. Singles “Bottom of the Blue” and “Water Girl” indicate the psychedelic duo’s broader themes, but the beauty of this album is that it will consistently keep you questioning their lyrical intentions while enjoying the journey.
