“The lockdown taught me that I’m capable of anything I put my mind to. I’ve also bettered my craft, and my sound changed and elevated as a whole,” South African DJ, producer and vocalist Musa Keys tells Apple Music. The same period saw him deliver his debut LP, 2021’s TAYO, where he brought sounds from across Africa into his amapiano universe. For his Apple Music Home Session—the exclusive series where artists record stripped-back versions of their hits—he shares a fresh take on “Wena” alongside a medley of some of his favourite tracks (“Possible / Kancane / Your Body Medley”). “These songs are very close to my heart, and the musical dynamic around the songs is delicious,” he explains. He rounds things out with some new-for-2022 material: “Big Choppa”, and a mash-up of the Loui collab “Selema” with the previously unreleased “Sphalaphala”.
