Bugged Out nights have flown the flag for irreverence, inclusivity and eclecticism in electronic music. Celebrating 30 years since the very first event at Manchester’s Sankeys in 1994, DJ, producer and Bugged Out legend Erol Alkan takes us on a tour through the innovative, irresistible sounds that have lit up Bugged Out’s dance floors over the years. “Selecting 30 tracks, one from each year of this club’s rich and diverse history, was a real challenge in itself,” he tells Apple Music. “So many essential club records have been at the heart since the very start, right through ’til now. Mixing them all together so it flowed was daunting, but I managed it in a single live take. It’s interesting that the oldest track in the mix from 1994 [‘Desire’ by Carl Craig in his 69 guise] mixes beautifully into the most recent from 2023 [CC:DISCO!’s ‘Chez Moi (Waiting For You)’], but that type of serendipity surrounds Bugged Out.”
