Formed in California by a pair of Jamaican ex-pats, The Rastafarians perfectly caught the sound and spirit of mid-'70s roots reggae. With its clavinet and percussion, the title track harks back to Exodus-era Wailers, while the ominous dub echoes and fiery lead vocal on "Occupation" recall the heyday of Burning Spear. If you hear a Marley-like voice on "Roll Call", it belongs to Constantine "Vision" Walker, himself an ex-Wailer. The gospel harmonies on "Rasta Theme" make a fitting close to The Rastafarians' only album.
