'90s Mexican indie rock band Santa Sabina are immediately recognisable by their gothic, darkwave atmosphere and sound. Their mystical, experimental and jazz-infused alt-rock style is particularly marked in their live performances, including MTV Latino's unplugged session. Lead singer Rita Guerrero's flamboyant stage presence, operatic vocals and dramatic interpretations have set Santa Sabina apart from most of the explosive rock en español music scene. Armed with a sitar, saxophone, and cello, these unconventional rockers left behind a rich musical legacy after Guerrero's death in 2011.
