About Method Man
Rapper Method Man rose to prominence as a member of the seminal ’90s hip-hop crew the Wu-Tang Clan before launching a successful solo career and branching off into film and television. • Method Man split his childhood between his father’s home in Hempstead, Long Island, and his mother’s in Staten Island. • He was a star lacrosse player at Hempstead High School and remains an avid fan of the sport. • After helming a solo track, “Method Man”, on Wu-Tang’s groundbreaking 1993 debut, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), Method Man became the first group member to release a solo album. His 1994 debut, Tical, hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. • In 1995, Method Man and Mary J. Blige won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group for their duet “I’ll Be There For You/You’re All I Need To Get By”. • Method Man formed a longstanding partnership with New Jersey rapper Redman. The duo debuted with the 1995 single “How High” and costarred in a 2001 stoner comedy of the same name. • His filmography includes TV series such as The Wire and The Deuce and films like 1998’s Belly, 2004’s Garden State and 2008’s The Wackness.
