Led by composer and musical polymath Hisayoshi Ogura, ZUNTATA is perhaps best known for producing countless soundtracks for the Taito Corporation's arcade games. Mixing live instrumentation with electronics, unexpected samples and processed vocals, the Japanese group's sound is a frenetic sonic explosion. Uptempo synth-pop tracks with pounding drums and pulsing basslines fuse with progressive house and shuffling hi-hat funk rhythms, while vintage video game bleeps and bloops are masterfully peppered through bright, infectious melodies.
