Z-Ro is the south's most underrated. Inspired by hometown Houston artists like the Geto Boys and K-Rino, he dropped his debut Look What You Did to Me in '98 before hitting a prolific streak through the aughts that saw him releasing at least one project every year. Excelling on beats based around low slung bass lines and woozy synths, Z's baritone flow carries weight although he's also adept at switching into double time. With lyrics that address emotional struggles, pain, and paranoia, Z's music is a cathartic and soulful experience.
