Yumi Matsutoya has been singing tantalisingly sophisticated and diverse love songs since the early ‘70s, and is an icon for many modern J-pop artists. Disco, doo-wop, reggae and ’80s synth sounds all pepper her repertoire, while 2013’s electric “Just For Now, Just For You / Imadake Wo Kimidake Wo” is the perfect example of her earthy and nasal vocal style.
