White Lion Essentials

White Lion had a few false starts before becoming one of the biggest groups of the hair metal craze. They were signed to Elektra in the mid-'80s, but lost considerable steam when the label opted to shelve their debut album, Fight to Survive, for a year. The record had been a tremendous showcase for Mike Tramp's gruff vocal style and guitarist Vito Bratta's shredding intensity, but sadly, few heard it. Undeterred, While Lion eventually signed with Atlantic, where they released the massive hit record Pride in 1987, making them darlings of the music-video scene.
