Inspired by the chopped and screwed sounds of Houston and early Three Six Mafia, trillwave—or "cloud rap"—rose to prominence thanks to A$AP Rocky's acclaimed debut mixtape, Live.Love.A$AP, which also featured fellow trillwave pioneer SpaceGhostPurrp. While their relationship soured, their shared sound spread throughout their respective crews—A$AP Mob and Raider Klan—and beyond.
