This playlist tracks what’s happening from the heart of the country scene to its outer edges. Find fan favorites you already love next to breakout stars and emerging voices. Topping the list this week is Lainey Wilson with her new song “Dead End Red Dirt Road,” which appears on the official soundtrack of the recently released TV miniseries The Gray House. Co-written with Paul Sikes and Trannie Anderson, “Dead End Red Dirt Road” is a go-for-broke love song with especially fiery vocals from Wilson and moody production to boot. The dramatic ballad finds Wilson promising to fight for a lover to the bitter end, making it an especially fitting choice for the miniseries, which is based on the real-life story of a network of women spying on behalf of the Union during the Civil War.
