The Sleng Teng Riddim

Wayne Smith's “Under Me Sleng Teng” changed the sound of reggae upon its 1985 release. Created by producer Prince Jammy using nothing more than a cheap Casio keyboard, it brought reggae into the computer age, spawned any number of remixes and soundalike tracks, and became the foundation of others' hits. Two decades later, “Sleng Teng” is still in constant use and shows no signs of slowing down.
