The Rise of Zoufris Maracas
Apple Music

The two Vincents—Sanchez and Allard—who formed Zoufris Maracas as a busking act in the Paris Metro in 2007, camouflage tough messages about politics, exploitation, inequality, and environmental peril with melodic, amusing, and danceable tunes. They borrow freely from Congolese zouk, manouche jazz, and Caribbean reggae to pay playfully subversive tribute to immigrants and underdogs.
