Howling Hex frontman Neil Michael Hagerty's underground take on classic rock is filled with experiments big and small, but it also features great grooves and a relentless sense of funk. On “Tender Metal,” he strips it down to just pattering drums and fuzz guitar, making a minimal jam-out that still pulses with energy. “Everybody's Doing It” even adds saxophone, bringing Hagerty as close as he's ever been to sounding like his heroes, the Stones.
