The Happy Goodmans Essentials

The Happy Goodman family has been an enduringly popular force in Southern gospel for decades, known for their country-inflected, no-frills approach to singing and sharing the word. Though the Alabama group was founded in the '40s by Howard "Happy" Goodman, they didn't find fame until after their '63 debut, I'm Too Near Home, and in 1968, they won the Best Gospel Album GRAMMY®. Throughout the years, the group's lineup revolved with various family members—uncles, brothers, sisters, and parents—and only one non-family member. The group split in 1980 but have reunited several times since.
