Sam Phillips' Sun label started out as a modest Memphis operation focusing on blues and country...then a kid named Elvis walked in hoping to make a demo. His remarkable success led to more of the same from Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Roy Orbison. But crate-diggers have also discovered less obvious Sun gems, by rockabilly cats like the wonderfully named Malcolm Yelvington.
