Soul Asylum Essentials

Formed in 1983, Soul Asylum rose from a thriving underground scene in Minneapolis that included trailblazers like Hüsker Dü and The Replacements. Mixing punk energy with jangly pop and roots-rock grit, the band moved from hard-won indie acclaim to major-label stardom, which came with the multi-platinum success of their sixth album, 1992's Grave Dancers Union. Their critically acclaimed tenth album, Delayed Reaction, dropped in 2012. Despite lineup shifts and long hiatuses, the band continues to tour and record.
