Few film composers use accordions with as much panache as Santhosh Narayanan. Since his 2012 debut as Attakathi's music director, Narayanan has risen to the top of the Tamil indie film scene with a signature crossover style. Don't be surprised to hear a kazoo solo over one of his pleasantly serene melodies—usually sung over guitars and violins—or find a jazz trumpet infiltrating a gangsta rap track. In Narayanan's musical universe, grunge, dance pop and sophisticated electro-pop are never far away from tabla or the brash drums and brass of traditional Tamil folk music.
