Running Wild Essentials

Running Wild Essentials

Named for a Judas Priest song and recording since the mid-'80s, Germany's Running Wild play chugging, shouty, and frequently speedy metal of the Accept school. Though they started out obsessed with Purgatory, they soon decided they'd rather make you walk the plank. So they concocted a “pirate metal” concept with lyrics and uniforms to match, inspiring such later bands of buccaneers as Alestorm. Their rock grew more ornate, taking in progressive and Celtic influences, but stayed hearty enough to toss back beers to. To this day, mutiny on the bounty is what they're all about.
