Sydney indie-pop duo Royel Otis—Otis Pavlovic and Royel Maddell—made major waves in 2024 with their debut album PRATTS & PAIN, and their handpicked summer playlist showcases the new and classic sounds they’ll be spinning through the sunny season. Genre-wise, it’s hard to pin down (much like their own releases). You’ve got the gentle waft of Radiohead’s “Let Down,” the punky chaos of Death Grips’ “I’ve Seen Footage,” and the low-slung groove of Grace Jones’ “Nightclubbing” alongside Australian artists including Kylie Minogue, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and, of course, a few of their own tracks. The music may jump around, but each track is well worth a spin, whether you’re driving down the coast on a beach trip or having an afternoon barbecue with mates.
