For Robi Kahakalau, Hawaiian music is a prism through which the entire world can be refracted. Daughter of a jazz bassist and granddaughter of a ukulele teacher, the singer rounds out her own recordings with bits of reggae, folk, and R&B—even including covers of Fleetwood Mac and Tracy Chapman.
