Pianist Robert Glasper came on the scene in the mid-'00s with his own spin on modern jazz, but by the end of the decade he began infusing funk and hip-hop into his compositions. His 2009 album Double Booked demonstrated his ability to mesh genres, but it was his 2012 breakthrough, Black Radio, that really turned heads and even earned him a GRAMMY® for Best R&B Album. Through it all, Glasper has been one of the most impressive collaborators in jazz, redfining the genre with his open-arm embrace of hip-hop, pop, and R&B.
