Rare Grooves: India

As Western music made its way into India in the mid-'60s, new influences started infiltrating the soundtracks to Bollywood films. Funky breaks, fuzzed-out rock guitars, and disco beats cross-pollinated with traditional Indian songforms to create a fantastical pan-cultural fusion. These lost gems were salvaged from the thousands of soundtracks released between 1965 and 1980.
