Pride in the 2010s

In the 2010s, same-sex marriage became legal in the United States and in many countries around the world. As acceptance of gay and lesbian people became more commonplace, the struggle for equal rights started to focus on more marginalized populations. Trans and intersex people, many of whom were present at the earliest stages of the Pride movement, had often found the fight for their own rights sublimated to those of more privileged groups. But with increasing visibility came increasing acceptance. Artists as diverse as Laura Jane Grace, SOPHIE, Troye Sivan, Big Freedia, Sam Smith, Anohni, Frank Ocean, and Tyler, The Creator continue to push the boundaries of art and identity.
