Owl City Essentials

Adam Young quickly went from writing songs in his parents' basement to becoming a prolific electro-pop hitmaker. As Owl City, his 2009 debut "Fireflies" evoked the soft vocals and percolating synths of The Postal Service, but it wasn't long before Young directed his gaze toward the club. Teaming up with Carly Rae Jepsen for the summery dance pop banger "Good Time" boosted his EDM cred, while collaborating with Aloe Blacc on the empowering "Verge" gave his sunny pop a dose of smooth soul. Not surprisingly, his feel-good songwriting has been a perfect match for several animated soundtracks.
