Oscar Peterson was one of the most dexterous pianists every to lay his digits across the ivories, but most importantly, he was also one of the most sensitive. Influenced as much by classical music as jazz, he brought tons of technique and an enormous wellspring of feeling to his work. From the '40s and into the 21st century, he brought bop to a new level—whether working with a big band or one of his famous trios—and he stamped his personality on every note in his catalog.
