California natives Neurosis kicked things off in '85 with a string of solid releases that charted a steady move away from their hardcore roots. Mixing Sabbath-esque doom with noise rock à la The Swans, their breakthrough album Enemy of the Sun dropped in '93. Their next LP, '96's Through Silver in Blood, received a rapturous critical reception. The two albums knocked metal off of its familiar course and sent it off in an exciting new direction. Neurosis remains prolific as ever with 2012's Honor Found in Decay met with universal acclaim.
