Argentinean-Spanish rapper Nathy Peluso is a true hip-hop talent forged in the vein of Chile’s Ana Tijoux and Spain’s Mala Rodríguez. She’s a consummate lyricist as well as a stylistic chameleon, spitting searing rhymes on tracks such as “Business Woman” and “La Sandunguera” but easily downshifting into silky neo-soul on songs like “Buenos Aires.” And she’s proved she can drive the genre forward with singles like the knotty, funky “SANA SANA.” Peluso received two Latin Grammy nominations in 2020—Best New Artist and Best Alternative Song—thanks to her sparkling debut album, Calambre.
