Mexico and Latin America Honor Black Music

This year, in honor of Black Music Month, we’re exploring the undeniable impact of Black music and musicians around the world. Afro-Latinos represent a crucial part of Latin American history and, of course, musical history all over South, Central, and North America. African and US musical influences can be heard through an array of styles, from tropical rhythms like cumbia or salsa to reggae, hip-hop, and reggaetón. In this playlist, enjoy the powerful, beautiful voice of Colombian artist Mabiland, who is heavily influenced by soul, R&B, and hip-hop, or dance along to the Argentine Afrobeat of Tam Tam Afrobeat. Adding to the tapestry of sounds, listen to Mexican rapper Alemán realize his dream of collaborating with Snoop Dogg or Colombian superstar J Balvin working with Nigerian artist Mr Eazi, alongside music from Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Panama, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Colombia across a myriad of genres. Dive into our Black Music Month playlist, and if you hear something you like, save it to your library.
