Kenny Chesney: Influences

Kenny Chesney may be known for his straw hats, but in the early '90s he sported a Stetson that could've come right off the head of his hero, George Strait. You can hear that influence via Strait's "Ocean Front Property," whose lilting beat and playful wit would become staples of Chesney's sound. His laidback beach vibe, meanwhile, is pure Jimmy Buffett, whose song “Volcano” evokes the light, tropical feel that would define Chesney's later work.
