As a songwriter and a visual artist, José María Cano is one of Spain’s foremost multi-hyphenates. The Madrid native began his career crafting melodic hooks as a founder of pop trio Mecano before writing for others at home and abroad, demonstrating a preternatural talent for pairing classic pop sensibilities with experimental elements. He has also ventured into opera, composing an official anthem for Real Madrid in 2002.
